Singer in Black Keys and wife divorcing

For Massachussetts couples going through a divorce, child custody may be one of the most challenging and emotional times in their lives. Deciding which parent will have primary custody of the children is almost always a very difficult decision for divorcing couples. A well-known rock singer and his wife who have reportedly commenced the divorce process may be facing this issue soon.

According to reports, Dan Auerbach, lead singer of the band Black Keys, is in the middle of a divorce from his wife. The singer's wife was not present at the Grammys in which the band won three awards for its music and Auerbach won an award as producer. The singer reportedly is no longer wearing his wedding ring. The couple has a four-year-old daughter together.

When a couple begins their divorce process, there are many issues that must be discussed. One of these is determining child custody. To determine child custody in Massachusetts, each spouse must present a child custody plan to the court. The court may then decide to revise the child custody plan or enter the plan the parents have submitted as an order. In some cases, the court may decide to reject the custody plan altogether and make its own custody determination.

In general, there are two types of custody: physical and legal custody. Physical custody refers to which parent the child primarily lives with. Legal custody refers to which parent has the right to make the major decisions regarding the child, such as medical, religious and educational decisions.

Fortunately, there is no indication that Auerbach and his wife are in disagreement over the custody of their daughter. If they can reach agreement on this highly emotional issue in a civil manner, they will save themselves and the child a great deal of stress and heartache.
