New filings in Johnny Depp's high asset divorce case

The high profile divorce between Johnny Depp and his former wife, Amber Heard, may be final, but the pair may return to court to debate the details of that split. As part of the couple's high asset divorce, Depp agreed to pay a settlement in the amount of $7 million. Massachusetts residents may recall that Heard pledged to donate that money to several charities. Now, however, she claims that Depp has failed to make good on his side of that bargain.

When news broke of the couple's divorce, Heard claimed that Depp had physically abused her during the course of their relationship. In fact, the actress posed for professional photographs with bruising on her face, and gave several interviews on the matter. The couple reached a settlement agreement shortly thereafter.

Currently, Heard claims that Depp has failed to make the agreed-upon payments. Depp, on the other hand, asserts that his former wife is filing needless legal actions. He has asked that his legal fees be deducted from the next payment amount, and claims to have spent nearly $1 million to litigate the divorce.

As this case moves on, readers in Massachusetts and elsewhere will likely continue to learn more about this brief marriage. Despite having signed a confidentiality agreement, details continue to be leaked or spoken about outright. That, too, seems to be a bone of contention within this high asset divorce case, and there is speculation that violations of that agreement may be partly to blame for the delay in settlement payment.
