Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher divorce yet to be finalized

When going into a divorce, many people are hoping to have the proceedings finished with as little trouble as possible. While the situation may naturally bring out some negative emotions, couples going through a mutually agreed upon divorce, in Massachusetts as well as elsewhere, are sometimes able to put aside their feelings and finalize their divorce with few problems. For these individuals, an option such as settling their divorce through mediation may be a way to avoid a lengthy trial. Others, however, perhaps because of complex financial problems or personal reasons, are not able to settle their divorce quickly.

The latter appears to be the case between actors Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, who announced they intended to end the marriage nearly two years ago. The main dispute between the two appears to surround a $10 million portion of A-Grade Investments, a venture capital fund created in part by Kutcher while the two were married.

According to lawyers for Moore, she is entitled to half of Kutchers $20 million share in the company. Lawyers for Kutcher argued that he has made a substantial amount of money in the time since the two split up, income which he feels he does not owe her. While the two remain in debate about the sum, the prospects of their divorce finalizing soon do not seem high.

However, given the sums involved, this may not come as a surprise. According to some reports, their divorce may be one of the most expensive celebrity divorces in the history of show business.

Situations like this are not reserved only for celebrities. When a couple is seeking a divorce, regardless of the amount of their assets, they can oftentimes find themselves in heated debate over who is entitled to what income or property. While it may be possible for some couples to come to an agreeable divorce settlement through mediation, others may need to bring their case to a trial.
